Senior Photographer
- Direct and manage all photographic content for the Templar Yearbook, ensuring high standards of creativity and quality.
- Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor to hire a team of photo editors and editorial freelance photographers
- Lead and mentor a team of freelance photographers and photo editors, organizing schedules, assigning tasks, and overseeing all photo assignments.
- Check-in with the Sports Team to ensure photo assignments for that section are being delegated and completed.
- Work closely with photo editors to ensure that the final photographic output aligns with the established themes and quality standards.
- Manage timelines and deliverables, ensuring that the photography schedule aligns with the yearbook’s production schedule
- Strong understanding of digital photography and photo editing softwares
- Strong leadership skills and communication skills to effectively manage and mentor a
team - Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Senior Sports Editor
- Oversee the production of the sports section of the Templar Yearbook, including written, photographic, and design content
- Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor to hire a team of sports writers and photographers
- Lead and mentor a team of sports writers and photographers, conducting bi-weekly check-ins to monitor progress, set goals, and address any issues
- Guide the creation of compelling stories and features that highlights the achievements, events, and personalities within Temple’s sports teams
- Coordinate with photographers and writers to ensure comprehensive coverage of sports events throughout the year
- Ensure all content meets high standards of accuracy, quality, and aligns with the yearbook’s overall style and objectives
- Work closely with the design team, senior photographer, and Editor-in-Chief to ensure a seamless integration of the sports section with other sections of the yearbook
- Manage timelines and ensure that all sports sections tasks are completed on schedule to meet publication deadlines
- Strong editorial skills with an ability to craft, edit, and improve written content
- Deep knowledge of sports and sports reporting
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Copy Editors
- Review, revise, and edit articles, captions, and other text for grammar, accuracy, consistency, and style.
- Collaborate with all senior leadership roles in Templar Yearbook to develop style guidelines that are consistent and appropriate.
- Verify factual information within text, including names, dates, and statistics.
- Work with the design team to ensure text elements complement visual elements and fits
the layout requirements. - Assist in developing headlines, captions, and other text to engage the reader.
- Manage multiple editing tasks under tight deadlines to ensure timely completion.
- Provide feedback to writers to help improve their writing skills.
- Must be familiar with AP Style of writing and have an excellent command of English language and grammar.
Designers
- Design the layout of yearbook pages, including cover design and arrangement of content.
- Collaborate closely with all senior leadership roles to conceptualize and execute designs that complement the written and photographed content.
- Create graphics and other visual elements that align with the yearbook’s theme and
aesthetic standards. - Ensure all designs meet print specifications and deadlines.
- Requires excellent communication, collaboration, and creativity skills.
- Prior experience in print or graphic design is preferred but not required
Photo Editors
- Lead the photographic content selection for the yearbook, selecting photos for features, sports, and special events.
- Edit and enhance photos for clarity, lighting, and overall aesthetic appeal.
- Work with other photo editors and the Senior Photographer to ensure consistency and quality across all images.
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure that photos are well integrated into the yearbook’s design elements.
- Uphold ethical photo-editing standards to accurately represent all students and events.
- Proficiency in photo editing software is required.
Sports Writers
- Write compelling articles and features that capture the excitement and spirit of Temple University Athletics.
- Attend sporting events, games, and practices to gather information and interviews with athletes and coaches.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on Temple University Athletics to pitch creative and fresh articles.
- Revise and edit work based on feedback from editors to meet the yearbook’s standards for accuracy and quality.
- Ensure all written content is factual, free of bias, and respects the diversity of the student body.
Freelance Editorial Writers
- Write high-quality, engaging content for various sections of the yearbook, such as campus figures, events, organizations, and achievements.
- Conduct interviews with students, faculty, and alumni to gather insight and quotes.
- Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor to develop story ideas.
- Work independently to meet deadlines and submit articles as per the editorial calendar.
- Revise and edit work based on feedback from editors to meet the yearbook’s standards for accuracy and quality.
- Ensure all written content is factual, free of bias, and respects the diversity of the student body.
Sports Photographers
- Attend sporting events and practices to take dynamic and impactful photos.
- Work closely with the Senior Sports Editor to ensure coverage of key moments and important events throughout the season.
- Adhere to ethical photography standards.
- Experience in sports photography is preferred but not required.
Freelance Editorial Photographers
- Photograph a variety of events on and around campus, including events, celebrations, and portraits.
- Collaborate with the yearbook editorial team to understand the themes and specific photographic needs for the yearbook.
- Provide creative input to enhance the visual representation of stories.
- Manage and deliver files on time according to the editorial calendar and deadlines.
- Ensure all photographic work adheres to ethical standards and accurately represents the diversity of the campus community.
- Experience in photography is preferred but not required.
