Editorial

Section Editor: Sports

The Sports Editor will be in charge of covering all Temple athletic teams that play throughout the fall and spring semesters. All Section Editors will reach out to core writers personally or through listserv to cover assignments. They will assign deadlines to the senior reporters and meet with freelancers to speak about focus and other technicalities prior to the interviews. The Section Editor will meet with the freelancer in adequate time to edit and proof the copy if needed. They will review all copy given to them and correct spelling errors, grammatical errors, and structural errors as they see fit. They must see that all stories contain enough quotes (at least 2), have at least 2-3 sources, a headline and a subheadline, and are submitted in the correct format before sending it to the Copy Editor to review. If needed, Section Editors will help write stories and complete any unfinished work to complete their section.

TO APPLY: Submit a resume and portfolio (3 writing samples)

Senior Reporter

Senior Reporters are expected to write at least 5 stories throughout the year. They are expected to meet with the editorial team to discuss story topics, interview people, attend events and anything else that will aid writing. Stories must be written, edited, formatted correctly with enough quotes and sources. They will make sure every story is submitted in the correct format, includes source information and is sent to the editor by the deadline.

TO APPLY: Submit a resume and portfolio (3 writing samples)

Design

Senior Photographer

Senior Photographers are expected to take as many photos as possible throughout each semester. Photos must fit page design, so extreme angles and editing is not always encouraged. The specifics for each photograph are dependent on design, which is why attending meetings is crucial. Photos may be used in the final production of the book, posted online or used on Templar’s social media. Senior Photographers must meet all deadlines assigned and upload content on time.

TO APPLY: Submit a resume and portfolio (5 work/photo samples)
